Julie Strange - Friendship Assistant

Picture
Julie was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master in the Arts of Teaching degrees from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 2014 and 2015. After teaching for a year, she decided to go back to graduate school in 2016. She is currently attending the University of Pittsburgh, studying Applied Developmental Psychology with aspirations to become a certified Child Life Specialist, working with kids in children’s hospitals! Julie will graduate in April 2018. She could not be more excited to be a part of the CCChampions team this fall to help facilitate friendships and bring a ray of positivity when kids need it the most!

Fun Fact: “At five-nine, I am the shortest in my family! My mom is five-nine and a quarter, my dad is six-two, my older brother is six-seven, and my younger sister is six-foot!”

I want to help CCChampions
I know a child with cancer

Copley Fry- Friendship Assistant

Picture
Copley was born and raised in Latrobe, PA and is a 2015 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a second degree in nursing at Villanova University. Her passions for helping others, working with children, and the field of medicine led her to believe that a career in nursing would be the best way for her to help children in need. She was involved with Pitt’s chapter of CCChampions and felt that the next step to bettering the lives of these amazing children was to join our team as a Friendship Assistant.

Fun Fact: “I want to live on the beach once I graduate from nursing school. I applied to every college with a program in Florida with hopes of living under the sun year-round…but ended up in Philly.  The beach is my favorite place to be and I love to swim in the ocean!”

Samantha Wilczynski- Friendship Assistant

Picture
Samantha, born and raised in Pittsburgh, is a student at The University of Pittsburgh pursing a degree in Applied Developmental Psychology in The School of Education. After having won her battle with cancer, she wants to help others going through what she endured. To follow that dream, she is pursuing a career as a Child Life Specialist to help give back all that has been given to her. With a passion for working with children and giving back she is excited to create memorable friendships and be inspiration to other children diagnosed with cancer.

Fun Fact: “Disney World has always been my favorite destination. My first trip there was when I was three months old and I have been going there ever since. If you add them all up I have been to Disney over 30 times!”
